Assertiveness is a gift — some use it as a tool for good and some misuse it and utilize it for meanness, intimidation and bullying.
Having a gentle and soft spirit is also a very special gift. Some who possess this are very much concerned with respecting other people's feelings, so much so that they neglect to respect themselves.
When the weak in spirit focuses on the present moment and meditate on what Christ would do they are given a courage like no other. They are given courage to speak up, courage to communicate, and courage to realize that they matter.
Spending time with nature and immersing oneself in the Word are two these actions which are proven to strengthen the soul in need of validation.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
